CAYC FAQs & Studio Policies
Welcome to our frequently asked question page, and to our studio policies. We hope this is helpful for you when considering joining us for a class, or have a burning question that needs answering. Our policies are in place to help nurture a mindful environment that has clarity at its centre and respects the students, teachers and our glorious space.
-
Please book your class online via Momence (either Desktop or App). Make sure you book in as early as possible to avoid disappointment. We discourage walk-ins without a booking that is made online prior, this is due to our studio being operated by the teacher (we don’t have a reception) sadly if we don’t have bookings made for a class, the teacher won’t be there and you will roll up to a locked studio, which is never fun!
-
‘Is there cake at every class?’ This is a common question, and for good reason - we are called CAYC after all! Whilst our story began with cake at every event, we have grown into a full timetable of classes, having freshly baked cakes at each class isn’t sustainable. We keep cake front and centre as it underpins our ethos of balance and inclusivity of all things joyful. Rest assured there will certainly be cake at our monthly Cake & Yoga Club and other events.
-
Once you have arrived at the studio, please leave your shoes in the racks beneath the benches. We are a shoe free zone, this helps keep our space clean and comfy (avoiding shoe prints on mats!) Check in with your teacher and let them know of any injuries, are very new to yoga / pilates / barre or if you are pregnant so they can support you throughout class.
-
Out of respect for students and teachers, we don’t allow latecomers. Please do your best to arrive at least five minutes before class so that you can settle and soak up the whole class. Our studio is a big open space without reception, arriving late creates quite a stir in the class as we settle in. We hope you can understand our decision. Latecomers aren’t able to change their booking to a different date.
You can cancel your class booking via Momence up to 12 hours before class. After that, it’s considered late cancellation and you won’t receive your credit back.
Unlimited Members (Welcome week, monthly member, annual or six month bundle): Late cancellation (made within two hours before class or less) will incur a £4 fee, and no shows will result in a £10 penalty fee.
-
Please note that we have a 48 hour cancellation policy for our events and workshops.
-
Single classes, workshops, bundles and memberships are non refundable and must be used within a certain time period specified when booking. We do not offer refunds, extensions or transfers.
-
We provide great quality mats, and props (blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets and balls) to ensure you have the most supported experience possible. However you are of course welcome to bring your own if you’d prefer. If you do use our mats / props, please give them a quick spritz and wipe at the end of class and place props neatly away.
-
A huge part of our ethos is that comfort is key. Wear what makes you feel comfy and what you can move freely in. Layers are great (especially for a little extra warmth in savasana) and you don’t have to be in the latest gear. Bring a bottle of water and a keep cup or mug for tea if you wish.
-
We strongly encourage you to leave phones in bags on silent, mainly so you truly feel able to be present in class without distraction. Checking phones / smart watches during class is distracting for other students as well as disheartening for the teacher. Give yourself permission to step away from tech for the duration. Emergencies happen, if you need to take a call - please step outside the studio discreetly to take this.
-
We have two welcome offers for students: an Unlimited Welcome Week for £45, or a Three Class Taster for £40. Beyond that we offer regular drop ins, memberships and bundles. We also offer our community mat, a space in each class reserved for someone in need - free of charge. Explore our pricing here.
-
In addition to our community mat, we also offer some concessions for those in our community who could benefit from our classes but need a little extra support. You are eligible for this 15% discount if you are a full time student, job seeker, person with disabilities or work for the emergency services, NHS or social care sector.
*Our 15% concession rate is only available on full price drop-ins and 5 or 10 class bundles and cannot be used in combination with other promotions.
-
When a class becomes fully booked, our waitlist opens up. If / when a person cancels, someone will automatically be added to the class in the order in which they signed up. You will receive an email to notify you that you have been booked.
-
We advise you to join us after week 12 of pregnancy, after consulting with your midwife. There are plenty of options to support you through our tailored pregnancy yoga and Pilates classes to other offerings on the timetable to support you throughout your pregnancy and beyond. Please let the teacher know before class begins so they are able to provide you with any modifications.
